Due to the attention NFL player Colin Kaepernick has had for not standing up for the national anthem this looks to be a sign of vengeance maybe for those who disagree or feel disrespected by Kaepernicks actions. This picture was allegedly taken at a bar in Virginia Beach, VA. With police brutality being televised and many unarmed black males being killed at the hands of officers, this creates a sensitive atmosphere in many communities across the nation. Kaepernick has told the press that his actions are for a good reason and until he feels comfortable about america’s justice system he probably wont be standing for the anthem.
On another hand this picture can only be an assumption of what people may think it stands for. The owner will not be prosecuted for either allowing this jersey to be used as a floor mat or damaging this article of clothing if he or she owns the establishment and the jersey. If its their property they have the right to do what they wish to it, but a person can only assume that it ties into the recent events that have been surrounding Colin Kaepernick. Maybe if it was another players Jersey then it wouldn’t be considered offensive? Without knowing Colin Kaepernicks jersey has become a symbol of standing for unfortunate unjust events happening in the past few years that have been plaguing the United States. The question to be answered is “Are those who support Colin Kaepernick offended by this photo, or is it just a minor case of our privilege of the first amendment.?”
