Virginia Need to go Pro

squires

Va need to go pro.

It’s about that time now. The state of Virginia needs a professional team to represent them. It’s been about 30 + plus since we last had the Virginia squires and not acceptable. What’s the hold up? We don’t have a big enough facility? We don’t know what city a team should belong in? Not enough money for construction? What’s the deal? People don’t really understand how valuable a sports team can be to a city. It’s not just about rooting for someone to go up and down a field, putting a leather ball in a net, or smacking a ball outside of a stadium. This can also open up more jobs for the unemployed in Virginia. The opportunities are endless when there a major league team in your town. The opportunity grows even greater if the team is winning. It’s a win win situation.

Think about the smaller cities you plan on visiting. What’s generally makes you want to travel there? Nine times out of ten it was probably the atmosphere one of their professional teams created. Tourism grow at a rapid pace if there’s a successful team in your city. Which would also lead to financial gain for the local business owners nearby. It also brings high more high profile people in your town who also would be willing to spend money in your establishment. The hotels would bring in more cash, the bars, the malls, the clubs, the tide, cab and Uber drivers, and much more. Now don’t get me wrong this isn’t just about money. A sports franchise can also bring families together, communities together, all under one roof. The citizens of Virginia deserve to be representing in the sports world.

See every other city (that has a professional team) can turn on the tv and watch them play. Not so much in Va. You turn in the tv hear and you have to watch one of the many Washington sports teams. Stop trying to force Va to like Washington teams! This does nothing but increase revenue in D.C. and does nothing for Va. Think about the tragedy that happen in New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina, many people in Louisiana was able to rally behind the saints to give them back a since of pride. That team represented those who struggled but still stayed afloat. Va need something like that. Hopefully in the near future we get something like that. It’s been well overdue. My only argument now would be what should we name the team?
