BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Superstar Sal A pioneer of the first organized battle rap league generation.

A Norfolk, Va  native and emerging from the community of Berkeley on the south side of norfolk, a rapper by the name of Superstar Sal became one of the first battle rapper to be coined as a “battle rapper” in the beginning of the “organized battle rap era” in the hampton roads area of Virginia. Dating back to as early as 2007 Superstar Sal had established his name as a battle rapper. In this era, being a battle rapper was frowned apon because it did not garner the respect of the modern day recording artist. What use to be considered the beginning steps of a rappers career path soon became a very useful skill to catapult Superstar Sal to the highest ranking figure in the hampton roads area in the early stages of organized and consistent battle rap events and leagues.

He made his mark around town and events such as hustlemania and many others. Superstar Sal has been in battle with a majority of Va’s best talent including Ave, D Flames, Squeako, Gold and many more! He has definitely made his contribution to the Virginia battle rap scene. His name is forever etched in stone in battle rap.
